RAPS City of Richmond Animal Shelter

Since 2007, RAPS has been contracted to operate the City of Richmond Animal Shelter. Since then, Richmond has been a no-kill community.

As the management of the Shelter, RAPS is responsible for all animals in Richmond, including wildlife and farm animals.

The Shelter is where lost, stray, abandoned and surrendered animals are welcomed, assessed and prepared for the next stage of their lives. If you have lost a pet or found an animal, make the Shelter your first call: 604-275-2036.

If you are considering adopting a companion animal, see available animals online. To avoid unsettling the animals, only serious applicants will be invited to meet the animals in person.

In addition to our work directly with animals, the RAPS City of Richmond Animal Shelter is also the centre for animal advocacy and wellness. RAPS is proud of our roles in educating the public, especially young people and school groups, about safe animal-human interactions and the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership. We also advocate with governments, media and other agencies to maximize awareness of and sensitivity toward issues affecting animals and their people.
