Volunteer of the Month: Aerith Valentina

RAPS is all about the animals. But everything we do is possible because of people. This month, we celebrate Aerith Valentina, who volunteers at the RAPS Cat Sanctuary.

What is your role at RAPS?

Oh my gosh what is my role?! I’m not sure I have a role anymore haha! I want to say I upgraded to helping with maintenance tasks, but I can still do cleaning if it ever needs to be covered, and I’m also a visitor ambassador!

How long have you been volunteering and/or working with RAPS?

April of this year!

What makes you committed to RAPS?

Believe it or not it’s the people! I have met so many wonderful folks from all walks of life and they keep me coming back with a smile on my face!

What is your favourite / least favourite part of your job?

It’s fun coming to start work on something then getting caught in conversation with one of the many beautiful people who work there!

Leaving has to be the hardest part. When you bond with the cats or one or two ( or three, four, five… everyone of them 😅 ) it makes saying goodbye that much harder. Knowing I’ll be back and I’m always welcome makes that part easier tough 🙂

Tell us about yourself (where you grew up, family, pets, etc.)

Myself myself myself… I have too much energy and too much willingness to help others which drives my passions! I grew up fixing ( or breaking! ) things and have always loved DIY and trades work! If there is something that I think I can fix or improve I’ll be there to do it!

What do you do in your spare time?

If I’m not working my weekday job, I’m working for my clients doing tech work, or I’m ripping apart my home ( or my families ) and doing renovations!

Do you have pets? Tell us about them!

Please no one who reads this get tooooo upset, but I have two pets and one of whom is Ariel ( yes the queen from the Front Courtyard! ), and my beautiful boy Buddy! They still don’t get along but the both have their own floor to themselves, and Ariel will sometimes sneak by the Royal Barrier™️ to try and claim more territory from her upstairs neighbour 😹

Thanks for everything you do!
