Margaret Graham – Volunteer of the Month

Everything RAPS does is possible only because we have the support of a small army of volunteers.

Margaret Graham is an irreplaceable member of the RAPS team!

That’s why she is our Volunteer of the Month!

What is your role at RAPS?

My role as a volunteer is in the upstairs section of the Francis & Garden City RAPS store.

How long have you been volunteering and/or working with RAPS?

I’ve volunteered at RAPS for about 8 years, firstly at the animal shelter, then the thrift store and I have been there since it first opened.

What makes you committed to RAPS?

Volunteering is very enjoyable as other volunteers and staff are so friendly.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I find the interaction with customers very satisfying when assisting them find any particular items. It’s a feeling of accomplishment knowing you’ve helped make someone’s day a bit brighter.

I would recommend volunteering at RAPS to anyone of any age who has some spare time any day of the week.

Tell us about yourself

I participate in fitness classes at the local gym almost every day and also love to ride my bike around Steveston. Also, growing my own veggies at one of the community gardens is so worthwhile.

I grew up in England, surrounded by cats and dogs, but have lived in Canada more than half my life. I adopted Kasha, my cat, from RAPS when she was 3 years old – now a wonderfully friendly 10-year-old who loves being cuddled by anyone.

Margaret … Thanks for everything you do!
