Volunteer of the Month – Connor Morrison

Everything RAPS does is possible only because of a small army of volunteers! This month, we recognize Connor Morrison as our celebrated Volunteer of the Month!

What is your role at RAPS?

I work at the Francis Road thrift store. I primarily price, put out, and organize donations, but I have done whatever was needed of me to do around the store.

How long have you been volunteering with RAPS?

I started volunteering near the end of June 2024 and I work Sunday afternoons.

What makes you committed to RAPS?

We got one of our cats from RAPS, and I appreciate the work RAPS does to take care of animals.

What is your favourite / least favourite part of your job?

It can be a bit demoralizing to come in every week to see another giant, almost never-ending pile of donations that needs to be sorted through and priced but, at the same time, it’s rewarding when the chaos looks just a little bit better than it was before I started.

Tell us about yourself!

I grew up here in Richmond, I live with my mum, dad, and brother, as well as our two cats. I am currently going to school at SFU, studying cognitive science. I’m very introverted, keep to myself a lot, but always try to do the best I can, no matter what it may be.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not studying or working on school assignments, I enjoy playing video games (some of my favourites are Pokemon and Persona 5 Royal). I also like hockey, I watch the NHL and PWHL, and play floor hockey.

Tell us about your pets!

I have two cats, Susie and Jet. Both are tuxedo cats (but not siblings), Susie is very friendly, affectionate and usually chatty, and Jet is more shy, but he has become more social as time has gone on (he’s also very loud when he wants to be).

Congratulations Connor on being the RAPS Volunteer of the Month! Thank you for everything you do!
