New faces: Meet Dr. Tom
The RAPS Animal Hospital family keeps growing!
In the coming weeks, we will be introducing you to a number of new faces on our team.
This week, meet Dr. Tom Homer.
Dr. Tom has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2016, when he graduated from the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland. He moved to Canada in 2019 and worked full time in a small animal 24/7 emergency hospital, before joining the RAPS Animal Hospital.
Client communication is one of the most vital parts of providing excellent medical care, and is one of Dr. Tom’s biggest strengths. While committing his life to caring for animals, Dr. Tom keeps life well-rounded. He has played field hockey for most of his life, and considers this and traveling to be his biggest passions. Since arriving in B.C., he has tried to get onto the ski slopes when time allows – but he is kept busy as a new dad and entertaining the family Golden Retriever, Quill, and cat, Pearl. You may even meet Quill at our reception!
Dr. Tom is one of three new vets joining the RAPS team. As demand continues to grow for our services and we aim to expand, as demand and resources permit, to a 24/7 facility, we are happy to add amazing new doctors and support team personnel.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have people like Dr. Tom join us,” says Eyal Lichtmann, RAPS CEO. “Across North America, there is a desperate shortage of veterinarians and trained support staff. In just five years, the RAPS Animal Hospital has gained a reputation as such an extraordinary work environment that qualified professionals are practically busting down our doors to join our team. So many have told us that leaving the for-profit veterinary sector, with its bottom-line demands, and focusing solely on animal welfare in a not-for-profit setting is a fresh, welcome approach for people who have devoted their lives for caring for animals.”
Stay tuned to meet the other new folks in the coming days!
