Happy Adoption Day, Gorgeous!
Harper Lee’s adoption is official now and we could not be more thrilled about the forever home she is thriving in with Erika and her husband, Jason. Remarkably, Harper came to us a stray and was never reclaimed. A senior diva, Harper’s medical condition was quite poor when she arrived at RAPS – it was immediately apparent that she was suffering from an eye infection and her teeth and mouth were in dreadful shape. Despite her poor medical condition, being blind and mostly deaf, Harper (formerly “Betty” at the Shelter) was the most loving, senior sweetheart. Through her tattoo, it was found that Harper was just over 14 years old. She stole the hearts of the RAPS team immediately and deeply.
Pug (and cat!) lovers Erika and Jason had a meet-and-greet with Harper and fell in love immediately. They are parents to two other senior puggies, as well as two cats. They came to meet Harper and it was obvious this was the perfect foster-to-adopt situation for Harper – Harper melted into Erika’s arms when picked up and was the most relaxed we had ever seen her. She went home with Erika and Jason to be doted on and loved, while she awaited her dental appointment. As she had severe dental disease, a dental specialist was arranged for Harper at the RAPS Animal Hospital. Remarkably, this golden-aged sweetie had 17 teeth, which is quite unheard of for her age. Following her extensive dental procedure, Harper went home to recover. A re-check appointment at the RAPS Animal Hospital produced a clean bill of health and an “adoption-ready” designation!
Erika brought Harper with her when she came in to sign the official adoption contract. Erika and Jason tell us Harper is absolutely thriving in her new home and enjoys “epic naps.” Her doting humans even had a beautiful painting made of their precious new family addition.
