The Regional Animal Protection Society is mobilizing to ensure continued, seamless services to animals and their people in the face of the ongoing health crisis.

All RAPS facilities are subject to intensified sanitization procedures. Staff and volunteers are practicing the most intensive cleaning and social distancing standards. Veterinarians, vet techs and support staff at the RAPS Animal Hospital are enhancing their already exceptional hygiene and sanitization protocols.

CORE SERVICES

The RAPS City of Richmond Animal Shelter remains open for core services but closed to the public. Call ahead to make an appointment (604-275-2036) for emergency surrenders and strays.

Visiting hours at the RAPS Cat Sanctuary are cancelled until further notice.

RAPS Thrift Stores are closed indefinitely from March 18.

RAPS ANIMAL HOSPITAL – SERVICE WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING

The RAPS Animal Hospital is open.

You are welcome to remain for the exam as usual. If you prefer, we will admit your pet and you can leave or wait in your vehicle. Please book a diagnostic admission and a staff member will meet you and create a smooth, minimal-interaction process for you and your pets.

We will obtain a brief history from you about the pet, admit the patient, do an exam and forward to you an estimate for your approval. You are then free to discuss next steps with us in person or by phone.

We can arrange a similarly interaction-minimizing discharge at the end of the visit.

RAPS ANIMAL HOSPITAL – FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We know that many people are now going through difficult financial hardships and we want to help. RAPS Animal Hospital is a charity hospital that provides assistance to the public. Our veterinary hospital has programs in place to assist families with companion animals, especially if a family member is temporarily unemployed or otherwise facing financial challenges due to the health crisis (or any other factor). We offer no-interest wellness payment plans to ensure no family is forced to make life-and-death decisions for their pet based on ability to pay. We are here to help. Call us at 604-242-1666 or click here to make an appointment.

PET FOOD DELIVERY

The RAPS Animal Hospital now offers online ordering and delivery of our pet food and supplies. (www.myvetstore.ca/RAPS) Stay home (or walk your dog!) and have your products delivered right to your door. During this health crisis, we are waiving delivery fees on orders over $50. In addition to food, stock up on cat litter, toys and treats!

HELP US HELP OTHERS

Thank you to everyone who supports RAPS regularly and especially those who have stepped up as we face this extraordinary challenge. As we join other Canadians in confronting these challenges, we are asking for your continued support. You may be limiting your restaurant or café expenses. Consider making a gift of some of that saving to a charity of your choice. We hope you will consider donating to RAPS (www.rapsbc.com/donations) so we can continue all that we do without interruption.

Like every other organization and individual, RAPS is monitoring developments and adjusting as necessary. Please check our website regularly and follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
