The RAPS family is mourning the death of a sweet dog whose twisted intestine was not treated quickly enough. It’s important for people to recognize the symptoms of this too-common and often-fatal condition.
Bloat is a build-up of gas, fluid or food, which causes the stomach to expand, placing strain on organs, potentially interfering with blood flow, tearing the stomach wall or making breathing difficult.
Sometimes, this results in gastric dilatation volvulus, in which the stomach rotates or twists, trapping blood and interrupting normal flow to the heart and the rest of the body.
