Volunteer Opportunities at RAPS
You can make a huge difference in the lives of animals.
The Richmond Animal Protection Society is seeking volunteers to fill the following roles:
Cat Room Cleaner
(Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon)
Cat Room Volunteers are responsible for cleaning each cat cage in their assigned cat room while socializing with the cats. RAPS relies heavily on volunteers to clean the cat cages in preparation for opening and viewing every day.
Dishes and Laundry Attendants
(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to noon)
Dishwasher and Laundry Attendant Volunteers are responsible for washing cat and dog food dishes, as well as rodent water bottles and syringes. Volunteers also perform laundry duties: using a washing machine and dryer; sorting and folding laundry; and organizing the laundry room.
There are two upcoming Information Sessions for anyone interested in these positions. Sessions will take place Wednesday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m.
Potential volunteers must attend an information session before submitting an application to volunteer. Volunteers are required to pay a $20 application fee (which covers the cost of T-shirt and training materials). Volunteers under the age of 16 must volunteer with a parent or guardian. Volunteers aged 16 to 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
A dog-handling information session is coming up as well, but has not yet been scheduled. If you’re interested in attending, please let us know.
